- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Line a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with foil or parchment paper.
- Pour the melted butter and oil over the foil; brush the pan surface to coat it evenly.
- Use a sharp knife to cut through the 2 wing joints; discard the wing tips.
- In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Add the wing pieces to the bowl a few at a time and toss them to coat completely. Shake off any excess coating mixture.
- Place the coated wings on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until the wings are golden brown, about 30 to 35 minutes.
- Brush both sides of the wings with half of the barbecue sauce. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes longer, until the wings are browned and the juices run clear.
- Brush the wings with the remaining 1/4 cup of barbecue sauce before serving.
