Method
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let this mixture stand for 5 minutes.
- Add the oil and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir in the flour, 1 cup at a time, until you form a soft dough.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic, which takes about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning it once to coat the top with grease. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 45 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and divide it in half. Press each half into a greased 12-inch pizza pan.
- Combine the tomato sauce, oregano, and basil. Spread this sauce mixture over each crust. If you are using them, add your desired toppings now.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the toppings. Bake at 400°F for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned.

Notes
You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it after the first rise. This allows you to have pizza ready faster on your busy family night. Remember that toppings are optional, so feel free to customize based on what your family enjoys.
