Ingredients
  

For the Cookies
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method
 

  1. If you have a stand mixer, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until well combined. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and stir until incorporated.
  2. Stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Cover the dough with plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Roll out the chilled dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to shape the dough into clock faces.
  5. Place the shaped cookies on baking sheets and bake for 7-8 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Notes

Decorate the cooled cookies with royal icing to create clock hands and numbers. This recipe can be adapted for gluten-free baking by substituting gluten-free flour blends.
