Chicken Wings Recipes in 20 Minutes: Weeknight Winner

I remember the thrill of hosting a last-minute game night with friends one Friday evening. I had limited time but wanted to impress everyone with my favorite comfort food—chicken wings. Racing against the clock, I experimented with a few quick marinades, tossing the wings into the oven while we set up the board games. The aroma filled the room and by the time the first game started, those wings were golden brown and perfectly crispy. Each bite brought smiles and laughter, making it a memorable night. It reminded me that even on the busiest days, you can create magic in the kitchen in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

For the Wings
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Dash cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce divided

Equipment

  • 15x10x1-in. baking pan
  • Large bowl
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Line a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Pour the melted butter and oil over the foil; brush to coat the surface evenly.
  3. Use a sharp knife to cut through the 2 wing joints; discard the wing tips.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  5. Add the wing pieces to the bowl a few at a time and toss to coat them completely; shake off any excess dry mixture.
  6. Place the coated wings on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, about 30 to 35 minutes.
  7. Brush both sides of the wings with half of the barbecue sauce. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes longer, until browned and the juices run clear.
  8. Brush the wings with the remaining 1/4 cup of sauce before serving.
