Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 1 box pound cake cut into 1-inch cubes
For the Cream Filling
  • 1 package cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
For the Berry Layers
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries

Equipment

  • Large glass bowl
  • Electric mixer

Method

  1. Prepare the cream filling. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar until well combined.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and heavy cream to the cream cheese mixture. Beat on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.
  3. Assemble the trifle. In a large glass bowl, create a layer of pound cake cubes at the bottom.
  4. Spread half of the cream filling over the pound cake layer.
  5. Add a layer of sliced strawberries over the cream.
  6. Repeat the layers: pound cake cubes, the remaining cream filling, and then a layer of blueberries.
  7. Chill the trifle for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

You can use other berries like raspberries or blackberries. For a stronger patriotic theme, you can add a layer of whipped cream on top and sprinkle with red and blue sprinkles.
