Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 jar salsa your favorite kind
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
Optional Toppings
  • shredded cheese
  • chopped cilantro
  • sour cream or Greek yogurt

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Season them with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the salsa, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Pour the salsa mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. If desired, top with shredded cheese during the last few minutes of baking. Let the cheese melt.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with cilantro and serve with sour cream or Greek yogurt, if using.

Notes

Serve this salsa chicken with rice, quinoa, or a side salad. You can also shred the cooked chicken and use it in tacos or burritos.
