Baked Chicken Wings

These baked chicken wings are crispy, flavorful, and simple to make. You do not need to fry them. They are good for game day, weeknight meals, or whenever you want wings.

Ingredients
  

For the Wings
  • 1 cooking spray
  • 2 pounds chicken wingettes or wingettes and drumettes (defrosted if frozen)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Seasoning Mix
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika use more regular ground paprika to substitute
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.75 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cumin optional
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Lightly spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the vegetable oil and all the seasoning mix ingredients: brown sugar, paprika, smoked paprika (if using), salt, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin (if using), and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Add the chicken wings to the bowl. Toss them well until every piece is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  4. Arrange the coated wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not let them overlap.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time, until they are crispy and cooked through.
