Our History

Gluten Free Kitchen Stories was founded in 2018 when our founder realized that behind every successful gluten-free recipe adaptation lay a compelling human story of determination, creativity, and discovery. What began as a personal blog documenting one family’s gluten-free journey quickly evolved into a platform celebrating the diverse experiences of cooks worldwide navigating gluten-free living.

By 2020, our collection had grown to include stories and recipes from over 500 contributors across six continents, reaching more than 450,000 monthly readers seeking both practical recipes and inspirational narratives. Our signature “Recipe Origin Stories” series launched that year, diving deep into the background and development of beloved gluten-free adaptations that have become community favorites.

The breakthrough came in 2021 with our “Cultural Heritage Project,” which partnered with gluten-free cooks from various cultural backgrounds to adapt traditional family recipes for gluten-free preparation. This initiative not only preserved culinary heritage but also expanded the global understanding of gluten-free possibilities, earning recognition from cultural food preservation organizations and international cooking publications.

Our comprehensive e-book series, “Stories from the Gluten-Free Kitchen,” launched in 2022 and has become the most downloaded collection of narrative-driven gluten-free recipes, with over 180,000 downloads. The series has been featured in Gluten-Free Living Magazine, Celiac Disease Foundation resources, and numerous food and health publications as an example of how storytelling enhances cooking education and community building.

Marco Santos

Gluten-Free Chef & Latin Cuisine Innovation Specialist

When my youngest son was diagnosed with celiac disease at four, I knew I had to reimagine every traditional Brazilian and Portuguese recipe from my childhood without losing their authentic soul. With my Johnson & Wales training and Miami Latin fusion experience, I’ve developed 320+ gluten-free recipes celebrating authentic Latin flavors using cassava flour and plantain alternatives. My gluten-free empanada recipe won “Best Appetizer” at the 2023 Miami Gluten-Free Food Festival, and I previously ran “Sabores Sin Gluten,” serving Miami’s Latino community. Food is culture—everyone deserves to experience the joy of sharing traditional family meals.

Elena Brown

Gluten-Free Culinary Storyteller & Recipe Heritage Specialist

After being diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity in my late twenties, I refused to lose my Italian heritage learned in nonna’s Brooklyn kitchen. With my food journalism background and European baking training, I’ve adapted 400+ traditional recipes from various cultures, with my gnocchi recipe winning “Recipe of the Year” from the National Gluten-Free Living Awards in 2022. I collaborate with the Italian-American Cultural Center documenting traditional family recipes and teach monthly pasta-making classes with the Westchester Celiac Support Group. Food is the heart of family storytelling—no one should sacrifice their cultural heritage.
